Jan 13th

Sorry for the video that didn't play from yesterdays post, I will fix it and let you know when it is working.  It is worth watching!

Today is a slow news day...

We packed all our stuff and headed off to the airport.  Our flight to Changsha left Beijing at 12:55, and we landed at 3:30.

Different terrain

Anna, our guide, met us at the airport with a driver, and we headed for town.  On the way we learned about the city where we would meet our daughter.  She also told us some things to expect when we meet Chloe, like that she might be afraid of us because we look different, have big noses, blond hair, and smell different!  We told her that we had been eating Chinese food for almost one week, so we might smell Chinese?!  She laughed...

After checking into our hotel, Anna gave us some advice on ordering food at the restaurants.  She even gave us an ordering cheatsheet for the local foods (not as many speak english here, compared with Shanghai or Beijing).  After a rest we went out to get some dinner.  It was obvious that we were the main attraction for the wait staff.  The food we got was probably the best we have had so far, spicy and tasty!  I forgot to ask Anna to write how to order a beer, so I googled a picture of a beer bottle on my phone, they seemed to get it at that point.  We had a garlic eating contest, to see who could smell the most Chinese for Chloe the next day!  (I think I won, but we will see tomorrow!)

Our cheatsheet

The "American Freakshow"

Best food so far (lots of spice and garlic)

Now i have a picture for ordering Beer for the rest of the week!

After arriving in Changsha, Stacey commented, "I feel like we have been to Chicago, and New York, and now we are in Anaheim!"

Unfortunately we found out that Chloe's orphanage is about a 5 hour drive from town, so we will not be able to visit it.

We will get her tomorrow at 3:00pm local time, which is 11:00pm PST Jan 13th...  So expect to see pictures the next morning, as i wont have time to post till later that night.

Appreciate all the comments, and especially letting me know the video didn't work (thanks Grandma Sheila!)
